Beach Ball Moon, oil on canvas, 30 x 24 inches, 2007
I posted this piece (in one of its earlier states) in the late spring of last year - but deleted the image from this blog soon after. As it turned out, the background wasn't finished at the time. It's experienced a series of color states since then and is finally making a come back. In fact, it'll be one of 33 paintings to be installed next week at the Alice R. Rogers Gallery at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. The exhibition will run from September 26th to November 21st - and the opening reception will be September 28th from 1 - 4pm - with a gallery talk at 2pm.
Other happenings:
- 27 of my paintings are currently on exhibit until October 10th in the lobby of Founder's Hall at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- Milkweed Pods seem so very Ugly on the Outside will be in a group exhibition at the Hennepin History Museum in Minneapolis from October 11th to December 31st.
- Last night, two of my paintings, Without and Hatched, found a new home by way of a silent auction at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis that benefited the Twin Cities Music Foundation.
- My review of Imants Ozer's piece (a part of J.T. Kirkland's Artists Review Artists project) recently went up on J.T.'s blog.

I've always wanted to say this:
"you go girl"
Seriously, good luck and congratulations. That is a lot of paintings.
Thanks, Steven - I really appreciate your support and kindness.
It still may be a few weeks before I make it all the way back to "blog land." I'm looking forward to visiting you and your blog when I do.
I hope all is well,
Mary
