Mannequin - XI

Overpowering, charcoal on paper, 11 x 8.5 inches
"[Weight and force] are of similar nature as regards pressure and the stronger overpowers the weaker. Weight does not change of its own accord, while force is always fugitive." Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519)

Mr. Mannequin seems to finally be resigned to his fate. . .
Beautiful drawing!

He's really been surprising me with his expressiveness. My first impression of him was rather wooden but I'm learning he's much more complex than that :)

Thanks for stopping by, Marc - and for the kind comment!

Beautiful drawing, Mary. The light of the string and hand screws are stunning and evoke emotional tension / I can almost feel what he/she is feeling.

Thank you for your kind comment, Kit.

The small screws eyes have become important with this series, somehow. At first, they were merely utilitarian; a way to simulate a figure holding onto a rope in mid-air. But they've now captured my imaginiation - not to mention, the light source. They seem to refuse to be ignored.

I'm glad this drawing affected you. Thank you, again, for taking the time to comment.
