squaring up

Winter Morning; casein on board; 6" x 6"

It's been snowing since yesterday afternoon - causing 25 accidents in 15 minutes during last night's rush hour.  It snows in 80% of the Aprils here in Minnesota so nobody is particularly shocked - we're sick of it - but not shocked.  Our response seems to be to don shorts.  Yes, you read that right.  Many folks deal with the duration of winter by denying it.  They'll defiantly go out on a snowy-30-ish-degree day baring their legs - although they still tend to wear boots and parkas.  Not everyone does this, mind you.  But the one-in-a-hundred, shorts-in-winter folks do get noticed - and they give hope to the rest of us.

Great color depth.

Thank you, David!

Winter is indeed fascinating - and the colors of snow continue to amaze me. We got a foot of the white stuff over the last 24 hours - looking forward to getting more photo reference tomorrow.

I really, really like this one even though it contains snow!

It's sort of unbelievable but we may get a few flakes ourselves this weekend! What a long, drawn-out winter for most of us.

Thank you, Jan - this one makes me happy too!

It's certainly been a flakey winter - hasn't it? I spent the morning taking photos outside. It's sunny today and the snow is untouched making for some really spectacular views. Back inside I've been trying to set up my old orchid that just started to bloom. I've finally given up - it's just too gnarly and convoluted at this stage to pose well. Another potted-leafy plant, a watering can and a picture on the wall have taken its place in the North light. We'll see what comes of it.

Thanks again, Jan - stay warm!
