In Frustration

It's bothered me all day - the photo in my previous post. It didn't seem to do justice to the blue of the flowers. Was the sky too overcast?

Here's another photo taken this afternoon with the vines - and the pillar - backlit by the sun.

A Reprieve

Morning glories 'Heavenly Blue'

It was 42F/6C degrees this morning when this photo was taken.

They're close to the house, as you can see, so they may last longer than the other annuals.

Nevertheless, their days are numbered. That incredible blue seems all the more precious now.

Big Fish - in progress

early on

later

The wind kept up today but all I heard in my studio was the radio - NPR.

The morning glories may have only a few more mornings left - if that. I'll check on them first thing tomorrow and either savor their blues or place them in the compost pile for the winter.

Small Fish

Some Thing Higher, oil on canvas, 40 x 32 inches

A cold front moved in yesterday bringing winds up to 50mph and warnings of frost later this week.

The old oak out back lost a small branch but other than that the trees have been ok.

I'm glad the old basswood was taken down last week - I should measure the rings. The tree guy had to dangle from a crane to take it down from top to bottom - it was so brittle. It feels much safer out there now with the trunk in pieces laying all about.

Getting Smaller (the image of the windsock)

What's on the Easel (moving faster than I thought - posted sooner than predicted in my previous post)

Small Red Carp Windsock

In the Beginning, oil on canvas, 32 x 40 inches

Tomorrow I plan to post progress of another one of these (windsocks.) It's blue, smaller but in the same size field (canvas) as this one.

Coming Along

further progress on one easel

A new canvas (on a second easel) with yet another windsock is beginning to take form. This third windsock painting is on a larger canvas but has a smaller image. I'll post a progress photo in a day or so.
