Mary, this one is very interesting. Instead of open space around the hanging object, the eye has to travel through the space, making the space much more active and vital. And the pay off is a calm, very centered apple. The object seems to be a goal here rather than a focal point. Very interesting.

Thanks, Tracy. You're very observant! This one is indeed different from the others in that the gradient sweeps from a point directly below the apple (about 8".) It seemed to me like a way to push the perspective a bit and place the viewer's gaze over the apple more.

Your O's (as in IMO) are always welcome :)
