taking root

The Sprout; casein tempera on panel; 10" x 8"
This little onion is one of the last things remaining from my garden.  So lovely that it's taking root this time of year.  So nice also to get away from pinks and greens.  It felt good to luxuriate in cerulean blue for a change.

While pinks and greens are favorite colors of mine, this color scheme looks fresh and crisp. The colors in the paper bag and the shadow on it are perfect!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!

I hope I didn't sound too disparaging regarding pinks and greens. I love them too - and will most certainly paint them again. For this painting, however, it felt right to explore other color combinations. And what a treat earning the description of 'fresh and crisp' - you made my day!
